Notice of Stage 2
Water Use Restrictions

Due to declining aquifer conditions, Sonterra Municipal Utility District has implemented Stage 2 Water Use Restrictions effective July 27, 2018. The Stage 2 Water Use Restrictions will be in place to reduce system demands until aquifer conditions improve.

The Stage 2 Water Use Restrictions are contained in the District's Drought Contingency Plan as adopted on 7/31/17, which is available in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. You can also download the single-page Summary chart.

First fluoride update system email:

This email is to provide those residents who have signed up to receive electronic communications from the District with an update on the fluoride levels in the District's water supply and the responsive actions being taken by the Board of Directors and the District's management.

The District has been sampling fluoride levels weekly. Yesterday, for the first time since Well No. 1 was taken off-line, the District's management was advised that the tests from July 18 reported a 4.24 mg/L system fluoride level. Upon receipt of the July 21 test results, the system was retested and the results of the new tests report that the system fluoride levels--3.79 mg/L-- are again below 4 mg/L.

A Reverse Osmosis water filling station was approved by the Board at its July 17 meeting to provide an in-District, alternative water supply for children under the age of 9. This station has been ordered and is expected to be delivered and installed by the first week of September.

The District's new Trinity Aquifer water well is currently under construction.

The District is also continuing its efforts to obtain a supplemental water supply from the City of Jarrell, including work to expedite the construction of a segment of the future Lone Star Regional Water Authority surface water supply line that could be used to deliver Jarrell water to the District water system.

The Board appreciates your interest in this matter and will provide additional information and updates through this email notification system.
